The full official name is the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Northern State Medical University" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

NSMU carries out educational activities in accordance with the state licence issued by the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science and the Certificate of State Accreditation. Residency programmes operate under licence No. L035-00115-29/00120357 dated 23.09.2016.
